Advice for Carers

If you look after a friend or relative who cannot manage without your help, you are classed as a carer.  We would like to support you in your very important role.

As a carer, you are entitle to a free flu vaccination during the flu season.  The person you look after may be entitled to a carers assessment.

Please contact the practice and tell us that you look after someone who cannot manage without you.  We can register you as a Carer and sign post you to services who can help you, such as Carers Count and The Carer’s Trust.

Even if you are not a patient of ours, we can still provide you with a range of information to enable you to register as a carer at your own practice.

Linda Flanagan is our Carer’s Champion and is on hand to answer any questions you may have.

Update: Covid-19 Vaccinations for Unpaid Carers

Unpaid carers aged between 16 and 69 years of age might also be eligible for a vaccination.  Anyone who is 70 or over should already have been invited in for a vaccination. By ‘unpaid carer’ we mean family members and friends who regularly support clinically vulnerable individuals due to their disability, where they need this support and would struggle without the individual providing this care.

If you are an unpaid carer and would like to receive a Covid vaccination, please view the PDF below to find out how you can register for one:
